Housing affordability

Candidate position

As our nation faces unprecedented challenges at home and abroad, I am focused on strengthening the middle class and investing in our future. Working class families, like the union one I grew up in, do not have the same opportunities as previous generations. This needs to change. We must bring down the cost of housing and make homeownership achievable again. We must grow from the middle out, increase economic opportunities, protect unions, expand job training and workforce development programs, create good paying jobs and protect the ones we have.

Lower Your Rent and Build More Housing

Candidate position

Adam is relentlessly focused on cutting the cost of housing to lower our rent and keep families housed. In Congress, he has sponsored legislation to make it easier to build affordable housing, especially near transit centers. By slashing construction costs, reducing burdensome red tape, and bringing together local, state, and federal partners, Adam is getting housing built faster and cheaper to address the affordability crisis head on. Adam is cracking down on Wall Street hedge funds that distort our housing market and drive up rents—introducing bicameral legislation to divest private equity from single family homes and allow Americans to build wealth through homeownership.

Put People Before Profits

Candidate position

Adam is taking on powerful special interests to create better opportunities for everyone. He supports banning members of Congress from trading stocks, forcing polluters to pay for environmental cleanup, creating a universal healthcare system and he has passed legislation stopping Big Pharma from price gouging life saving medication like insulin. Adam is leading the fight by introducing bills that would stop private equity from monopolizing housing, end the practice of corporations spending billions of dollars on stock buybacks, create a minimum tax rate on massive corporations so they finally pay their fair share, and strengthen financial regulations and oversight on big banks.

Expand Economic Opportunity & Build Pathways to High Paying Jobs

Candidate position

Adam understands that no one should have to work two jobs just to afford rent and essentials. Fighting for a living wage that you can raise a family and buy a house on is personal to him and that’s why he supports raising the federal minimum wage to $20/hour. Adam’s dad was a rap serviceman at Sea-Tac Airport, and a proud member of the Machinist Union. He understands that the path to good paying jobs and an economy that works for everyone is built by unions and that’s why he’s fighting for more apprenticeship programs and stronger labor protections that ensure our right to bargain and organize. The ability to earn a living wage to raise a family and buy a house should be possible for everyone. Adam’s dad was a ramp serviceman at Sea-Tac Airport, he knows there’s honor in all work and has championed apprenticeships, short-term credentials, and community college pathways.

Earlier rolls are being collected and this section must not be described as the candidate's complete record yet. Every numbered U.S. House roll call published by the Clerk during the configured service window is reconciled through the member's exact Bioguide ID. Clerk XML through 2002 does not publish Bioguide IDs, so those rows require a candidate-specific official House identity and service bridge plus one unique exact published-name, party, and state tuple. A published roll without an identity-safe row is retained as an explicit source omission and is not labeled as a vote or absence.
