Election & AI Disclaimer

FactVote is a research aid. This page explains the limits that matter most when using it to learn about candidates, records, issues, and a possible ballot.

Effective and last updated: October 9, 2026

Always confirm voting information with your official state or local election authority. FactVote is not an official ballot, voter-registration service, polling-place locator, or government election system.

Independent service

FactVote is independent from government agencies, election officials, candidates, campaigns, political parties, political committees, and voting-system providers. References to any person, party, office, agency, or organization do not imply affiliation, endorsement, sponsorship, or approval.

Not official election information

Election rules and records can change quickly. FactVote may be incomplete, delayed, or wrong about candidate status, district assignments, primary eligibility, contests, measures, deadlines, polling places, identification requirements, voting methods, ballot order, or other election details.

Before registering, requesting or returning a ballot, traveling to vote, or making another time-sensitive election decision, use the official election authority for your address. If FactVote and an election authority conflict, follow the election authority.

Ballot builder and saved choices

The FactVote ballot builder and generated ballot documents are personal research aids. They are not ballots and cannot cast, record, transmit, or count a vote. Your exact official ballot may vary by residence address, precinct, municipality, district, party, eligibility, or later official action. Saving a choice in FactVote does not vote for a candidate or measure.

Records, statements, and summaries

FactVote organizes information from public records and third-party sources. Source pages can change, disappear, contain errors, or use definitions that differ across jurisdictions. Excerpts and summaries necessarily omit context. Candidate statements belong to their speakers, and publication on FactVote does not mean FactVote agrees with or endorses them.

Labels, comparisons, issue relationships, calculations, and summaries are research tools, not declarations of intent, ideology, character, truthfulness, or future conduct. Missing evidence should not be treated as proof that a candidate has no position or record.

AI-assisted answers

AI can produce inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or misleading answers, including incorrect summaries and citations. FactVote attempts to ground answers in retained evidence, but that process does not eliminate mistakes. Review the cited record, its date, its source, and its surrounding context before relying on an answer.

Do not use an AI answer as the sole basis for a voting decision, deadline, eligibility determination, or allegation about a person.

No professional advice

FactVote provides general civic and educational information. It does not provide legal, tax, financial, investment, or other professional advice. Consult a qualified professional or the responsible public authority for advice about your circumstances.

Corrections

If you find a possible factual, sourcing, or attribution error, use Contact / Report an Error with the page URL, the disputed statement, and supporting source material. See Methodology & Corrections for the reporting controls currently available. Submission does not guarantee a response, a particular change, or removal.
