I want to join Team Pillen!

Candidate-stated

I recently joined other leaders in Washington D.C. to witness history as President Trump returned to the White House. His incoming administration has a mandate to advance conservatism—and Nebraskans look forward to being a part of that work.

Data Center Development & Protecting Nebraska Resources

Candidate position

Not only do we want homegrown companies to stay, but we also want others to come, plant their roots and grow. For that to happen, we must have a strategic tax incentive policy that supports new venture opportunities. I’ve been clear – we can no longer provide tax breaks to companies that are takers, not givers, and to those that don’t share our values.

We’ve made good progress in cutting property taxes over the past two years, but we have more work to do. We need to address the outdated TEEOSA school funding formula and make the Cornhusker State more competitive with its neighbors and more attractive to families and businesses who want to stay here or are thinking about moving here.

Here’s why I feel so strongly about fixing our broken system

Candidate position
Belief

2. Our high property tax rates make Nebraska less economically competitive than our neighbors. Reducing property taxes is essential to attracting new residents, retaining current ones, and encouraging business development – all of which will foster stronger economic growth for Nebraska.

Belief

5. High property taxes discourage people from living in Nebraska and encourage younger people to relocate to other states, harming our population and economic growth. We can’t afford to turn a blind eye to the impact of people who will leave or who won’t move here in the first place.
