Share of Minnesota's in-state electricity-industry net generation supplied by wind, solar, wood, other biomass, and conventional hydropower.
EIA generation totals
- Renewable generation
- 19,099,421 MWh
- Natural-gas generation
- 15,888,656 MWh (27.1%)
- Nuclear generation
- 11,844,611 MWh (20.2%)
- Coal generation
- 11,430,486 MWh (19.5%)
- Total net generation
- 58,595,222 MWh
How it was measured: FactVote sums 14,781,458 MWh of wind, 2,285,276 MWh of solar, 880,010 MWh of wood, 284,915 MWh of other biomass, and 867,762 MWh of conventional hydropower, then divides the 19,099,421 MWh renewable total by 58,595,222 MWh of total net generation in EIA Table 5 and rounds to one decimal.
Keep in mind- EIA Table 5 covers electricity-industry net generation and does not include estimated small-scale generation outside that table.
- In-state generation is not the same as electricity consumed in Minnesota because power crosses state lines.
