Labor and workers' rights

Candidate position

Jobs should pay enough to live on. Cindy is already working to increase the state minimum wage to $16, and to let higher-cost cities and counties set higher minimums so people can keep up. And she’ll fight to make sure that when people need to miss work because they’re sick, they don’t have to go without pay.

Economy, taxes, spending, and affordability

Candidate position

Cindy aims to lower residential property tax assessment rates from 11.5% to 9.0%, providing significant tax relief for homeowners across all income levels. She’ll add exemptions to our tax system, too, to make sure that the property tax burden doesn’t push seniors and disabled veterans out of their homes.

Energy, utilities, and natural resources

Candidate position

Cindy has called for a moratorium on new giant corporate data centers — which raise our energy costs and put our farmland and water supplies at risk, often in exchange for taxpayer handouts — until we can set up guardrails to protect our environment, our jobs, and our budgets.

Economy, taxes, spending, and affordability

Candidate position

Every working family should be able to afford a place to raise their kids, but for too many, wages and salaries aren’t keeping up with the cost of housing. Cindy will fight to build more affordable housing in communities that need it. And she’ll fight for fairness for renters as well as homeowners, so if they make a late payment, they’re not at risk of losing their homes.

Legalizing Recreational and Medicinal Cannabis

Candidate position

Most Kansas voters think marijuana should be legal in our state, but because it isn’t, Kansans buy it out of state. Legalizing it here at home would raise money for schools and public services, build an industry in Kansas of farmers and small businesses, and end the criminalization of behavior that is already legal in many neighboring states.
