He supports the Abortion Justice Act and EACH Act to protect and expand abortion access—no matter who you are, where you live, or how much money you make.Oliver opposes all abortion bans. These bans force people to travel long distances, wait later into pregnancy, or forgo care entirely.Oliver will fight to restore nationwide abortion access, end medically unnecessary restrictions, and reduce maternal and infant deaths. Oliver knows protecting abortion access is inseparable from fighting for maternal justice, racial justice, and healthcare equity.

Candidate positionOliver believes we must end Big Pharma’s profiteering by having the federal government manufacture generic prescription drugs at cost—and allow Medicare to negotiate prices across the board.A quarter of Americans can’t afford their medications. That’s unacceptable. Candidate positionDonald Trump has unleashed and all-out attack on our immigrant neighbors. But it is not just Trump and the Republican Party that have gotten us here. Name your top two legislative priorities for the next Congressional term. Mencione sus dos principales prioridades legislativas para el próximo período del Congreso.
Candidate positionWhile it is extremely hard to narrow down to just two, I think my top priority is Medicare for All. Anyone who has experienced the American healthcare system knows how terrible it is. We are the wealthiest country in the world not to guarantee healthcare as a human right. In Congress I will fight to pass free at the point of service healthcare with no premiums, deductibles, or co-pays. Healthcare is a human right and it is time we stop allowing our healthcare system to prioritize profit over patients. The other legislative priority for me is winning the battle for democracy. We are experiencing a crisis of democracy in our country with attacks on our basic rights every day. I will fight to pass a pro-democracy agenda that includes: banning Congressional stock trading and the revolving door, banning partisan gerrymandering, overturning Citizen's United, granting statehood to DC, abolish the Senate filibuster, expand the House of Representatives, abolish ICE, and taxing billionaires.

“Freedom of speech” is included in the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Exactly what does ”Freedom of Speech” mean to you? La libertad de expresión está incluida en la Primera Enmienda de la Constitución de los Estados Unidos. ¿Qué significa exactamente para usted la “libertad de expresión”?
Candidate positionFreedom of speech is one of the most important rights we must fight for. During Trump's term in office we have seen attacks on the press, students, educators, immigrants, and pro-democracy organizers. Freedom of speech is about the ability to seek information, speak out, and organize against the powerful without fear of retaliation. I don't believe we are currently living up to those standards. I am also a proud union organizer, and I believe that an overlooked aspect of freedom of speech is the freedom to organize for a union. Freedom of speech includes the right to unionize, collectively bargain, and take collective action if it comes to it. If we be believe in an expansive view of what freedom of speech is we must support labor law reform to allow workers to have decision making power on the job without fear of retaliation from their boss.

What role do you believe the federal government should play in education at the pre-school level, K-12 level and higher education? ¿Qué papel cree que debería desempeñar el gobierno federal en la educación a nivel preescolar, educación K-12 (primaria y secundaria) y educación superior?
Candidate positionThe federal government is the only body that is able to fund education at the scale necessary to improve the education system. The federal government must pass a budget that allows for the full funding of refurbishing or building schools, increasing teacher salaries, and funding of supplies necessary for the highest quality education. Over the last several years, states like ours have defunded public education, censured topic such as Black and LGBTQ history, and weakened the power of public sector unions. The federal government has the power to pass national education standards to make it impossible for people like Ron Desantis to attack our rights. I also support universal 3-k to College for All.
