National security, foreign policy, technology, and veterans

Candidate-authored statement

Conscription is state ownership of the individual. That is Scott’s position, stated plainly, and it has not moved in 48 years. He is a standing member of the Committee Opposed to Militarism and the Draft — listed on his official ballot filing, not invoked as a talking point. The record is the argument. On the broader war: “Back in 2001, I think it was Dick Cheney who declared this the long war... I guess it means we just get to attack any country we want to for the next hundred years or 500 years. We’re killing people all over the world with no end in sight. The long war is murder.”On foreign policy in practice: “We would be a giant Switzerland — strictly neutral. Free trade with all nations is anything but isolationism.” Scott will vote to repeal all standing AUMFs, will not authorize any new military deployment without a formal congressional declaration, and will oppose automatic Selective Service registration under the current NDAA. The current Congress won’t do any of that. He will.

Energy, environment, public lands, and utilities

Candidate-authored statement

Alaska sits on some of the most energy-rich land on earth — oil, natural gas, coal, and untapped reserves that could fuel American energy independence for generations. Alaskans should benefit through genuine market competition, not federal moratoriums, permitting bottlenecks, or managed programs that pick winners and losers with taxpayer money. Scott supports full development of Alaska’s energy resources including ANWR, Cook Inlet, and the natural gas reserves that could finally bring affordable energy to Interior Alaska communities. He opposes all federal restrictions that block or delay Alaskan energy production. No Washington agency should have the power to lock up Alaska’s resources in the name of a national energy policy that leaves Alaskans paying the highest fuel costs in the country.

Democracy, ethics, and the rule of law

Candidate-authored statement

Government should not be propping up industries, bailing out banks, or funneling taxpayer money to favored interests. Scott opposes all federal subsidies — to business, labor, or any special interest — and believes taxpayers should never be the backstop for private failures. When government picks winners with your money, the people paying the bill are always the losers. Scott will vote to separate business and state.

Taxes, economy, workers, agriculture, and affordability

Candidate-authored statement

Alaska’s fisheries, minerals, oil and gas, timber, and public lands are Alaska’s inheritance — not Washington’s to manage, restrict, or parcel out through federal permitting bottlenecks. Scott believes Alaskans should develop and manage Alaska’s resources without federal interference. He supports ensuring that royalties from resource extraction on state lands flow into the Permanent Fund as the Alaska Constitution intends.

Democracy, ethics, and the rule of law

Candidate-authored statement

Alaskans deserve genuine choices on the ballot — not a managed two-option menu written by the parties who also write the ballot access laws protecting their positions. Scott will fight at the federal level for ballot access reform that lets third-party and independent candidates compete fairly in every state. He supports proportional and alternative voting systems that better reflect the will of the electorate.

Public safety and criminal justice

Candidate position

Scott’s position, in his own words: “I’m not only the anti-war candidate, I’m the pro-immigration candidate. If people are affected by these wars, they can come over here. Come on over.” He supports free movement of peaceful people and opposes ICE enforcement actions, comparing current immigration law to Jim Crow-era laws: “Rosa Parks had to sit in the back of the bus. That was the law. That was a wrong law, and wrong laws need to be resisted.” His limiting principle: those with contagious disease or a documented history of violent crime abroad. His complementary policy: end the federal welfare state alongside open borders. This is a long-standing position — the 2014 Anchorage Daily News described his platform as “pro-choice, anti-war, and for open borders.” It has not changed.

Civil rights and individual freedom

Candidate position

Your body is yours. Scott believes every individual has the absolute right to make their own decisions about their health, lifestyle, and personal choices — without government permission or interference. What you put in your body, what treatments you seek, how you live: these are yours to determine. The AK LP platform is unequivocal — no real or imagined emergency, medical or otherwise, justifies overriding individual freedom. Scott will carry that principle into the Senate chamber.

Democracy, ethics, and the rule of law

Candidate position

The right to be secure in your person, home, property, and communications is the foundation of a free society. Scott supports restoring and expanding Fourth Amendment protections into the digital age — including email, financial records, and data held by third parties. He supports full oversight and transparency of intelligence agencies, opposes secret classifications used to hide government misconduct, and will fight any federal program that treats law-abiding Alaskans as suspects.

Civil rights and individual freedom

Candidate position

Alaska’s Republican senator voted for the NDAA while his campaign advertised a commitment to protecting Alaskans’ privacy. The contradiction is the point. Scott will not vote for any bill that funds warrantless surveillance, expands federal data aggregation, or reauthorizes provisions that treat Alaskans as targets rather than citizens. This infrastructure was built by both parties. Dismantling it requires someone who is beholden to neither.

Gun policy

Candidate position

The right to keep and bear arms is an individual right — not a government-granted privilege and not subject to negotiation. Scott supports the Second Amendment without qualification. He opposes all laws at any level that restrict, register, or monitor the ownership, manufacture, or transfer of firearms, ammunition, or accessories. Every Alaskan has the right to defend their life, their family, and their property.

Health care

Candidate position

Alaskans have the right to choose their own health care, providers, and treatments — including the right to decline any procedure or vaccine. Scott supports a fully free market in health care where prices are set by competition and providers answer to patients, not federal bureaucrats. He opposes any federal mandate that substitutes Washington’s medical judgment for your own, and supports reforming licensing laws that restrict access to care and inflate costs.

Public safety and criminal justice

Candidate position

Federal law has created crimes without victims and filled prisons with people who hurt no one but themselves. Scott supports ending federal mandatory minimums for nonviolent offenses, decriminalizing marijuana at the federal level, and abolishing qualified immunity so law enforcement faces the same legal standards as every other citizen. He also will push to clear the national rape kit backlog, a genuine crisis that has gone unanswered too long.

Education

Candidate position

Education is a family decision, not a federal mandate. Scott supports full parental choice in education, including homeschooling, correspondence programs, charter schools, private schools, and tax credit mechanisms that keep education dollars in family hands — all without federal mandates, curriculum interference, or Washington-issued standards. He will vote to abolish the federal Department of Education and return education dollars and decisions to states, communities, and families where they constitutionally belong. Not the reshuffling of federal programs between federal agencies that Washington calls abolition today, but actual devolution of the money and the authority. Alaska already shows the way: tens of thousands of Alaska families direct their children’s education through homeschooling and correspondence programs, and remote communities have always depended on flexible, locally controlled education. Federal mandates here are not just unnecessary — they are harmful.

Retirement security and Social Security

Candidate position

Parental rights do not end at the schoolhouse door. Scott will fight to reform Title IV-E of the Social Security Act — the federal funding stream that reimburses states per child, per day, for children removed from their homes while offering no comparable support for keeping families together. Washington pays states to take children, and Alaska shows the consequences: our children are removed at more than seven times the rate of the lowest state, over 70 percent of Alaska children in foster care are Alaska Native, and poverty is routinely mistaken for neglect. Federal dollars should never create a financial incentive to separate a child from a fit parent. Families belong together, and no federal bureaucrat has the right to override a parent on their child’s upbringing, health, or education.

Taxes, economy, workers, agriculture, and affordability

Candidate position

Every dollar the federal government spends is either taken from someone who earned it or borrowed from someone not yet born. Scott will vote against every budget that grows federal spending and will not support any new federal tax on Alaskans. He supports a Balanced Budget Amendment that closes the gap exclusively through spending cuts — not tax increases. The national debt is a generational burden laid on children who had no say in it.

Transportation, infrastructure, and connectivity

Candidate position

The Jones Act requires goods shipped between U.S. ports to travel on American-built, American-crewed vessels. For Alaska, that means every box of groceries, every gallon of fuel, every pallet of building materials costs more than it should — because a federal shipping monopoly protects a narrow industry at every Alaskan consumer’s expense. Scott will vote to repeal it. Repealing the Jones Act is one of the most direct, immediate things a U.S. Senator can do to lower the cost of living in Alaska.

Taxes, economy, workers, agriculture, and affordability

Candidate position

Tariffs are taxes — paid not by foreign governments, but by the Americans who buy imported goods. Scott supports the removal of all governmental barriers to free trade, including tariffs that raise prices for Alaskan consumers and businesses. Alaska’s geography makes it uniquely dependent on affordable international trade and shipping. No international tariffs, no trade barriers, and no federal schemes that make Alaskans pay more for the things they need.

Taxes, economy, workers, agriculture, and affordability

Candidate position

The PFD belongs to Alaskans, full stop. Scott stands by the original constitutional and statutory formula and will oppose any reduction, diversion, or federal encroachment on it. At the federal level, he will push for a tax exemption on PFD disbursements so Alaskans keep every dollar of what is already theirs — no IRS cut on money earned from Alaska’s own resources. Scott will hold that line in Washington and make the federal tax exemption a real legislative fight.

Tribal nations and Native priorities

Candidate position

The federal government controls roughly 60% of Alaska’s land. The AK LP platform calls for ending all federal sovereignty over Alaska lands — and Scott agrees. Alaskans, not distant bureaucrats with no stake in the outcome, should be making decisions about Alaska’s land, its resources, and its future. Federal land management has consistently prioritized DC politics over Alaska’s needs.

Taxes, economy, workers, agriculture, and affordability

Candidate position

Scott will not caucus with either major party. He will not trade his vote for committee assignments or carry party leadership’s agenda back to Alaska. He answers to Alaskans and to the principles of the Libertarian Party of Alaska. As your Senator, he will be the only vote in the chamber not managed by Republican or Democratic leadership. Alaskans sent him there to represent Alaska, and that is the only job he intends to do.

Energy, environment, public lands, and utilities

Candidate position

Alaska’s subsistence traditions — hunting, fishing, and gathering — are not a policy preference. They are the foundation of rural Alaska life, and for many Alaska Native communities, they are survival. Scott opposes federal override of Alaska’s subsistence laws and supports Alaskan-controlled management of fish and game resources. The federal government has repeatedly inserted itself into subsistence disputes in ways that harm rural Alaskans and Native communities. Alaska’s commercial fisheries — the lifeblood of coastal communities — must be managed locally, not by federal agencies answering to interests far from Alaska’s waters. Scott will fight to restore full Alaskan control over subsistence and fishing rights and oppose any federal action that restricts the traditional livelihoods Alaskans have depended on for generations.
